| Deja-Move "Remember The Past" (CD Album / 2007 / Audiopharm / GER)
Direction: Urban, Downbeat
Hip-hop beats meet soul elements, reggae basses come across silky female vocals, lo-fi encounters hi-fi. A psychedelic spark, a dash of glitter. The ingenious “Warmin’” is a perfect summer soul’n'dopebeat starter to kick off the album, followed by the outstanding, sinister-melancholy hip-hop/trip-hopbeat, “Affected” - the result of a cooperaton with American neo-soul/ R’n’B vocalist Lizz Fields. Next in line are soul gems, followed by deep sixtiesthriller soundtrack instrumentals, interludes, smooth up-tempo feelings and downbeats featuring an amazing musical depth.
Bingle, who has also released recordings with his up-tempo project, Aaron Bingle, and features on a wide range of international compilations in both incarnations (Universal France, Warner Poland, Watermusic Records /U.S.A, Syn/Japan, 5000 Records U.K), mixes the advantages of recording in the computer era with the analogue feel of vintagedays - Moog, Fender Rhodes and tube sounds, garnished with electronic and acoustic elements, make up a multi-layered and richly billowing stylistic cocktail, diverse and self-contained. An autonomous and homogeneous sonic world, Bingel himself having composed the material, recorded the instruments, programmed the beats and taken care of production and mix at his own, independent Octopuss studios. Collaborations with the vocal artist Jantey and musicianssuch as Engino or Marc Deal, who contributed a number of cuts, are additional assets.
“This is an extremely relaxed, summery, deep album,” says Hamburg resident Bingel. “The concept is an evolution from the lounge track to a more classic songwriting approach. I wanted the album to have a solid basis and be more than just a compilation of pleasant sounds.” A concept album featuring superior quality and an international sound.
